I'm excited! I won something! Woo Hoo! I don't usually win competitions...but I played along over at Moo.com for their Holiday Card Caption Competition and they picked my caption for one of their cards! The winning captions were made into a set of holiday cards you can customize and buy. Check them out here or by clicking on the image above.

My caption was for the holly cards. I entered the caption "Have a holly jolly Christmas!"

I really like Moo! They operate over in London. I ordered my little Moo business cards from them for my Etsy shop. They look awesome! I am very pleased! Plus, if you wanted to, you could make the back of EVERY SINGLE CARD be different! How cool is that! I wanted mine all the same, but I chose Moo because I liked the smaller sized cards! You can make original sized business cards too...along with greeting cards and all sorts of other fun things! They have a blog too. They seem like a jolly bunch of people. :)

I just bought some rare earth magnets that are extremely strong for their small size. How do you make a rare earth magnet? Hmm. I'm going to find out and let you all know! This will be my first "Behind the Scenes" story!

So, I haven't written in awhile. But I've been thinking about some different things to do with my blog. One thing I decided was to do "Behind the Scenes". Because I LOVE finding out how things were made and the process and things like that. Or behind the scenes of a movie, etc. So I'll be featuring some behind the scenes of different things I'd like to learn about.

I haven't posted any new items in my shop for a few days. I have, however, been busy getting things ready to put in my shop! Such as cutting paper and tag board and picking new papers and designs and taking photos, etc. I will definitely be posting new mirrors all next week along with new buttons/magnets. Stay tuned. ;)

Paper Shops

Does anyone know of any great paper shops? It doesn't matter where they are. (I like to travel!) I recently visited my hometown of Portland, OR and discovered a few. One wasn't even a paper store, but they had awesome complimentary gift wrap and so I asked to buy a few sheets. Anyways, if you know of any cool paper stores, let me know! Chains are fine, but mom-and-pop shops are my favorite!

Here are the two papers I will be using for tomorrow's mirrors. I LOVE the wood grain effect printed in gold ink on brown shimmery paper. I bought this paper at a cute little shop. They said the wood grain paper is hand silk-screened. Just lovely!

I really love the purple paper as well. I'm a big purple fan. My purse is even purple! ;) Actually, there are a ton of colors I love, but purple seems to be one that I'm attracted to even more than the others. I tend to like the deeper purples more than the lighter ones...like eggplant colors or purples that are almost blue, etc.

Folding Pocket Mirror

This is a small version of my folding pocket mirror (2.25 x 2.25). You can find it for sale in my Etsy shop. I had so much fun making it!

I had been wanting to make these ever since my husband and I went to Japan. I found something similar in a cute little paper shop and decided that with my love for paper and creating things by hand...this would be the perfect item for me to sell in my shop!

I've tried selling other things before and my heart wasn't in it. After checking out several interviews on Etsy, and finding out that most people were saying to sell WHAT I WANT...not what I THINK people want...I realized that is exactly what I was doing. I was worrying so much about if someone would like what I had for sale and what color I should make something because what if someone didn't like that color, etc. It got to be much too frustrating. Once I let that go, everything seemed to flow so much easier! I discovered how much I love paper and decided to make that my medium of choice! Hunting for paper is my favorite past time! I love making things for people. My family and friends are always getting my newest creations. Etsy is such a great tool for putting my stuff out there even more.

Anyways...I'm excited.

This is my first time blogging...ever! I wanted to create a blog so that I could interact more regularly with my wonderful customers! I'm excited to get my products up on my Etsy shop soon! I can't wait to show you what I've been creating!
